We’re two months into the new year and have been noticing some trends when it comes to recent engagement rings. Here are the top engagement ring trends for 2024.
- Yellow Gold. This warm colored metal contrasts nicely with both diamonds and colored gemstones. You can even sacrifice a bit on the color grade when selecting a diamond for a yellow gold setting, since you’ll be less likely to notice a yellow hint of color in a diamond set in a yellow gold setting than you would if that diamond were set in a white gold or platinum setting. Another pro of this colored metal is that it requires less maintenance than white gold. White gold is plated in rhodium to give the ring a bright, white appearance. Overtime, this layer of rhodium wears off and needs to be re-plated. Yellow gold, on the other hand, is naturally yellow so you never have to worry about having it re-plated. This color metal also offers a classic, luxurious touch to engagement rings.
- Elongated Diamonds. In previous years, we saw the emergence of oval diamond engagement rings. This year, however, it’s all about emerald-cut diamonds and marquise diamonds (at least when it comes to elongated diamond shapes). These elongated shapes can make the diamond appear larger than it actually is while also making one’s finger appear longer and slimmer.
- Round Diamonds. Out of all the diamond shapes, round brilliant-cut diamonds offer the most sparkle. It’s no wonder why these diamonds are preferred year after year for engagement rings. They’re also a classic choice, meaning you’ll never have to worry about your round diamond engagement ring going out of style (especially if you choose to have that diamond set in a solitaire setting).
- Twisted Shank Engagement Rings. Rings that feature a twisted design leading up to the center center gemstone(s) have become increasingly popular recently. Not only is this design beautiful, it also has a special meaning as well. Twisted shank engagement rings represent everlasting love and the intertwining of two lives.
- Three Stone Engagement Rings. Said to represent the couple’s past, present, and future, three-stone engagement rings are perfect for anyone looking for a meaningful engagement ring. While these rings may seem pretty straightforward, there’s actually a variety of different style options you can choose from to make the ring uniquely yours. Some couples choose to incorporate different-shaped diamonds into their three-stone engagement ring, with the center diamond being one shape and the two accent diamonds being another. Some of the most popular diamond shape pairings this year include emerald-cut diamonds with baguette diamonds, marquise diamonds with round diamonds, and oval diamonds with pear-shaped diamonds.
- Nature-Inspired Engagement Rings: Designed to reflect the beauty of the natural world, nature-inspired engagement rings typically feature flowing designs that resemble branches, vines, flowers, or leaves. This design adds a feminine touch to the engagement ring and is perfect for any nature lover.
