Commonly Asked Questions: Jewelry Repair

Posted on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025 in Commonly Asked Questions, Jewelry Repair.

When properly taken care of, your expertly-crafted fine jewelry should be able to last for a very long time. However, occasional maintenance and repair work may be required from time to time. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions regarding jewelry repairs.

How do I know if my jewelry needs to be repaired? Chances are you’ll notice if your jewelry isn’t as it should be. You may spot a small crack in your ring shank, a missing gemstone, a prong catching on clothing, or a gemstone moving around in its setting. Whatever the case may be, we recommend not wearing your jewelry once you notice any irregularities. Then, bring it in to a jeweler you trust to have it repaired. If you’re not sure whether or not your jewelry needs any maintenance repairs, you can always have your piece checked over by a professional jeweler.

How much does it cost to get my jewelry repaired? It all depends on the repair. The cost of any jewelry repair will be dependent on the metal and/or gemstones needed to complete the repair as well as the complexity of labor required. We provide courtesy estimates for all our jewelry repairs so you’ll always know how much you can expect to pay before we even begin working on the piece.

How long does it take for my jewelry to be repaired? It typically takes about one to two weeks for jewelry repairs. A quicker turnaround time can be made for special circumstances.

Can you repair my jewelry even if it wasn’t originally purchased at Kloiber Jewelers? Absolutely.

How often should I have my jewelry professionally checked? Even though your jewelry may not be in need of any immediate repair work, it’s still a good idea to bring your pieces in to be checked every once in a while. We suggest bringing in your frequently worn jewelry at least once every year so that we can make sure your pieces are in good shape and all of the gemstones are properly secured.
