We’re more than halfway through the year, so we’ve had plenty of time to notice several trends pop up when it comes to engagement rings in 2025. These are the top engagement ring trends for this year.
- Elongated Center Diamonds. You may have noticed that oval diamonds have been a popular option for engagement rings these past few years, but other elongated shapes are also taking center stage this year. Pear-shaped diamonds and elongated radiant-cut diamonds are two diamond cuts that have been very popular in 2025. These elongated diamonds flatter the hand, creating a graceful and slimming effect on the finger. They also tend to appear larger than round or square diamonds of the same weight.

- Bezel Settings. A bezel setting refers to metal that completely or partially surrounds a gemstone. It’s custom-made to fit the gemstone’s exact size and shape, holding it securely in place. This type of setting offers the most protection for your gemstone while also offering a modern, sleek appearance. Unlike prongs, bezel settings have a smooth, low profile design that won’t snag on clothing, hair, or other objects. The one downside to bezel settings is that less light is able to enter the gemstone, reducing the amount of brilliance and fire seen in the gem. These settings also tend to be more expensive than prong-setting since more metal is needed to create the ring.

- Thicker, bold bands. Engagement rings with thinner shanks have been the go-to for many years. Now, we’re seeing more requests for thicker, bolder bands. These engagement rings are more durable compared to rings with thinner shanks. The wider band provides a more secure foundation for the center gemstone and can help prevent the ring from spinning. Thicker bands are inherently more robust and less prone to bending and warping, allowing you to have a ring that’s going to last for a very long time. These engagement rings convey a sense of strength, confidence, and modern style. The one downside to thicker bands is that they can sometimes compete with the center gemstone and make the center gem appear smaller or less prominent. To avoid this, a larger or more eye-catching center stone may be needed to maintain a balanced look. Like bezel settings, more metal is needed to create engagement rings with thicker bands, leading to a higher cost.

- Three-Stone Rings. These timeless rings feature feature three gemstones set side-by-side on a band. While the stones can be the same size, the design most often features a larger center stone flanked by two smaller stones. The three stones are traditionally said to represent a couple’s past, present, and future. Even though this style of ring seems pretty straightforward, there are plenty of ways to customize the ring. You can mix and match different diamond cuts and sizes, choose between prong-set or basket-set, or even add some extra detail to the band. Popular side diamonds for three-stone rings in 2025 include trapezoids, tapered baguettes, pears, and rounds.

- Vintage-Style Rings. These rings are a modern recreation of popular styles from different historical periods, often combining old-world aesthetics with modern technology. They’re newly made but designed to look like they come from a past era. A lot of these rings feature intricate metalwork, like filigree and milgrain. They can also contain unique diamond cuts, like Old European Cut, Rose Cut, or Old Mine Cut. These vintage-style rings offer a level of uniqueness that is difficult to replicate.
